China Reveals Formula E Track in Beijing

cinaOrganizers of the FIA Formula E Championships have revealed the location and circuit design of the Beijing Formula E Grand Prix, which is scheduled to host the series’ inaugural race on September 13.

Set around the grounds of China’s Olympic Stadium, the venue for the 2008 Olympic Games, the track is 3.44-km long (2.13 miles), features 20 turns, four chicanes and two main straights. The track is subject to final FIA homologation.

“Today’s unveiling of the Beijing circuit marks a very special moment in the evolution of the FIA’s Formula E Championship. Now people can visualise where all the aforementioned will come together to put on the world’s first fully-electric race, which we’re sure is going to be an amazing spectacle,” said Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E.

The inaugural Formula E all-electric racing series will include ten venues on four continents.

Round 7 - Miami, USA , 14th March 2015
Round 8 - Monte Carlo, Monaco, 9th May 2015
Round 9 - Berlin, Germany, 30th May 2015
Round 10 - London, UK, 27th June 2015

The 2014/2015 season will gather ten teams: ABT Sportsline, Venturi Grand Prix, Virgin Racing, Drayson Racing, e.dams, Andretti Autosport, Dragon Racing, China Racing, Super Aguri and Mahindra. All stables will be using Spark-Renault SRT_01E single-seaters fitted with engines, transmission and electronics developed by Formula One team McLaren.
